WEHR51: PYROFEMS

In the organizer's words:

The world is burning - politically, economically, ecologically: economic crises, the dismantling of democracy, wars, climate catastrophes: A global conflagration - while one source of fire is extinguished, ten more ignite like the head of Medusa.

After LE CRI and LIQUID (Kurt Hackenberg Prize for Political Theater 2024), the WEHR51 is igniting the third part of its artistic sustainability cycle with PYROFEMS. This time, the element of fire takes center stage - as a primal force between passion and vulnerability, negotiated by three strong women.
With wit, anger and poetic force, WEHR51 unfolds a theatrical collage with PYROFEMS in the fictitious backstage of a world climate conference. A blazing evening between performance, discourse and non-patriarchal structures.

"In a 70-minute, highly inflammable mixture of scientific documentation, ethical discourse and theatrical performance, Andrea Bleikamp directs a contemporary drama that overcomes the tipping point into a bottomless age with ease. ... In the course of the performance, the "Pyrofems" grow into a glowing black tower of ravens, filled to the rafters with power, feminist foresight - and disgust at advances in civilization such as the dismantling of democracy, the expansion of war machines, the overexploitation of resources and the strengthening of the primordial patriarchy.
