15 years ago, the sea disappeared off the coast of Windholm. Since then, an oppressive calm has radiated into the surrounding area, raising questions and causing unease. The cause of the anomaly is still unclear. With a new theory, ambitious physics student Micha is one of many young scientists fighting for the rare research contracts at the university. After years of work, however, he has to experience how his daring project fails due to the ossified system - he is not allowed to continue his project. Micha secretly sets off with his colleague Jana to test his hypothesis on his own. In the area cordoned off by the military, the young researchers encounter the pitiful remnants of a mysterious village community. Because on the day the sea disappeared, it also took the children of the village with it. Or so the villagers claim. But did the children really drown back then? Their bodies were never found! Between run-down houses and deserted streets, Micha and Jana fall deeper and deeper under the spell of this forgotten place in their search for the truth, where a reality is revealed to them that they have yet to face.
