The Kunstraum Potsdam is planning to honor the important oeuvre of the internationally renowned German artist Wolfgang Joop with an extensive retrospective in autumn 2025. This is the life's work of Wolfgang Joop, who was born in Potsdam in 1944.

On 450 m² of exhibition space, the Kunstraum Potsdam 2025 will present an extraordinary special show that will both present the work of the cosmopolitan Wolfgang Joop and provide insights into his private environment. The versatility of his creative work will be presented in the form of drawings, paintings, graphics, sculptures, fashion designs, sketches and photographs. His international career will be explored by means of numerous digital copies and original exhibition objects, some of which have never been shown before.

Wolfgang Joop is one of the creatively talented, imaginative artists who helped shape German cultural history for decades. His unique extravagance brought him international attention and he is one of the German designers who achieved cult status worldwide.

Wolfgang Joop embodies the likeness of a "Prussian wunderkind" who has already become an important legend and continues to inspire with his ingenuity. As a bestselling author, artist and creator of art, illustrator, art collector and art expert, university lecturer and, above all, fashion designer, his oeuvre is internationally renowned across generations. Wolfgang Joop is also regarded as an experimental artist who can now look back on a richly fulfilling life and a multifaceted oeuvre. In retrospect, it is a life in the fast lane, characterized by the ambivalence of his creative character. He gave the exhibition of his life's work the title Wolfgang Joop im Kunstraum.

The exhibition will extend over two levels and guide visitors through an unforgettable exhibition experience in 6 themed areas. The (interior) architecture of the exhibition will be lavishly coordinated with the exhibits and will feature state-of-the-art exhibition and museum technology. The list of works will include analog and digital objects that are thematically embedded in impressive light and sound installations.
