The journey of Yervant Demirci, a blacksmith born in Mardin province, through the complex web of Armenian-Turkish-Kurdish identities in Turkey and Armenia... The documentary follows Demirci's efforts to connect with his cultural heritage across two countries and three cities - despite the linguistic and cultural boundaries that define him as "Kurdish-Armenian" and "Turkish-Armenian". "Rootless Resident" opens up a space of experience at the intersection of past and present.

For ten days, the 37th Turkish Film Festival 2026 Munich will present feature films, documentaries and short films at the Royal Filmpalast and Gasteig HP8. They tell of escapes from reality, of inequality and solidarity, of being a woman and a mother, of the power of art and imagination. They provide an insight into what is currently moving society and into the turbulent years of its history. Touching, moving and often with a good pinch of humor!
