Sabiha and Zekeriya Sertel began their life together between love and political struggle in Thessaloniki in 1915. As journalists, they consistently fought for freedom in the turbulent times from the end of the Ottoman Empire to the 1940s of the Republic of Turkey. After Sabiha Sertel's death in exile, her existence was kept secret within the family for a long time. Only her niece Nur Deriş rediscovers Sabiha's story. The film invites us to rediscover a silenced generation and a denied era.

For ten days, the 37th Turkish Film Festival 2026 Munich presents feature films, documentaries and short films at the Royal Filmpalast and the Gasteig HP8. They tell of escapes from reality, of inequality and solidarity, of being a woman and a mother, of the power of art and imagination. They provide an insight into what is currently moving society and into the turbulent years of its history. Touching, moving and often with a good pinch of humor!
