She is the rapper of the moment: in just a few years, Puerto Rican Young Miko has become a global phenomenon and one of the most influential voices in the urban Latin genre. Yet she actually had completely different plans: Young Miko was born María Victoria Ramírez de Arellano Cardona in Añasco in 1997 and went to a Catholic school. During her youth, she was a midfielder for the Puerto Rican national soccer team and also loved drawing - so she studied fine art and earned her living as a tattoo artist.

But music was also a constant companion. After rapping her first songs on YouTube beats, she released her debut EP "Trap Kitty" in 2022. With her cross-genre style, clever lyrics in a mix of Spanish and English and infectious hooks, she forged her very own path right from the start. She also deals openly with her queerness, creating a new awareness in an often traditional genre.

Even before she released her debut album "att." in 2024, Young Miko was a featured guest on tracks with stars of the Latin scene such as Nicki Nicole, Karol G and Bad Bunny and was invited by Argentinian DJ and producer Bizarrap to one of his legendary Bzrp Music Sessions - one of the songs with which the Puerto Rican was nominated for a Latin Grammy. Her debut album, which immediately reached the top 10 of the Latin charts, earned her an international Grammy nomination. Young Miko then embarked on her first world tour and a mainstage performance at the Coachella Festival.

Her Latin trap continued to dominate the Spanish-speaking music world in 2025: the single "WASSUP" went viral worldwide, she performed at legendary festivals such as Governors Ball and Lollapalooza, opened for Billie Eilish and played two completely sold-out headlining shows in her home country. Young Miko's second album "Do Not Disturb" was released in November last year. It is her most personal and mature work to date, underlining all the more her place as a trailblazing figure of her generation.

2026 looks set to be the next good year. Gap has just launched an international campaign with Young Miko as the first openly lesbian brand ambassador and things are also continuing at a rapid pace musically: at the end of March, the singer released the song "Duro" together with Skrillex, which currently has over 2,000,000 views on Spotify alone. She has now announced her second major world tour, which will take the rapper to Cologne for an exclusive club show from July in addition to appearances at the Roskilde and Montreux Jazz Festivals.
