General

We invite everyone who would like to draw or learn to draw together to our drawing circle. Led by artists from Leipzig and the surrounding area, our circle enables an open exchange about the medium of drawing. Various techniques are tried out: Sometimes closer to the traditional concept of drawing, sometimes further away from it. The artistic direction of the drawing circle changes regularly. Regular participants can thus get to know a variety of artistic approaches to drawing.

About Ilona Rijkeboer (artist, Leipzig)

In March and April, Ilona Rijkeboer will lead our drawing circle and focus on sensory perception. Our senses guide us through the world and shape our understanding of it. When we draw, we usually concentrate exclusively on what we see. Rijkeboer will work with participants in meditative and playful exercises to explore how all the senses can be involved in the creation of images. Each session will focus on one sense.

Ilona Rijkeboer draws to process information, meditate and communicate experiences that are difficult to put into words. She studied fine art at the LUCA School of Arts in Ghent (BE) and at the Edinburgh College of Arts (GB). She has taken part in exhibitions, residencies and art festivals in Scotland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Estonia, Germany and France. In Leipzig, her works have been shown at the Shower Gallery, among others.
