Who is shaping the school of tomorrow - and why?
At the 3rd Night of Speakers Edition Future School, all sides will have their say this time: teachers, parents and, of course, the pupils.
Four people, four questions, four answers about ideas for schools that shape the future.
How can schools today be designed so that children and young people really learn for life? What happens when school no longer teaches, but inspires? When children are allowed to grow into creative, self-effective people - in a space that combines trust, responsibility and a digital future?
Our third edition brings together the voices of all those involved - open, inspiring and practical. They tell us why they think about school differently today and in the past.
Johannes is principal at Heidberg secondary school in Hamburg. Together with the staff, pupils and parents, he has set out to change the school. From the 2025/26 school year, Gymnasium Heidberg will be a Dalton Gymnasium and yet the community is only at the beginning of this exciting journey.
His goal is to make the school a place where people would rather go in than out. Johannes gives us insights into the transformation path that Gymnasium Heidberg has already embarked on in 2021/22.
Together, we answer the question of what happens when you really trust children, young people and learning processes.
Julian is a teacher at Allermöhe secondary school in Hamburg and the newly crowned winner of the "German Teachers' Award 2026". His concern: All pupils should be given the opportunity to experience self-efficacy through civic engagement and to experience that their actions have an impact and that they matter to others. Julian Lee shows how this can be made possible at a low-threshold level in schools.
Together, we answer the question of what it would mean for teachers if they could only work with students who are really interested in what they have to say?
Erik is 17 years old and Chairman of the Board of the Thuringia State Student Council. As Deputy Secretary General of the Federal Student Conference (BSK), he is a passionate advocate for the interests of young people. He focuses on mental health, political and economic education and evidence-based education policy.
Together, we answer the question: What would it mean for you students if you only had to learn what you were most interested in at the moment?
Simone Kohl has just been elected Chairwoman of the Hamburg Parents' Association for the fourth time in a row. Her commitment focuses on greater educational equality, greater parental involvement and an open approach to the mental health of children and young people. She is also concerned with improving cooperation between schools, parents and authorities as well as anchoring sustainability and social responsibility more firmly in everyday school life.
Together we answer the question: Dear parents, what would it mean for your family peace if you never had to make your children do their homework or learn vocabulary again?
👥 For parents who want to know how education can succeed today.
👩🏫 For teachers who are looking for inspiration to change schools.
🎒 For students who want to experience how learning can be different.
An evening full of ideas, encounters and perspectives - for everyone who not only wants to experience school, but also help shape it.
Be there when four people report from their everyday lives on how school can be made new.
As the host of the nationwide "Night of the Speakers" series, I am taking the right to take up your time. "Why are you here?" This question from the book "The Café at the Edge of the World" by John Strelecky has left a lasting impression on me. So why this edition, which, like "Mother", is to take place throughout Germany?
Because there are teachers and school leaders all over Germany who have valuable things to say and who should be heard. Not just online, but also live. They come from elementary school, secondary schools and vocational schools. They prove every day that school can be a place of learning and not just a place of teaching. That it works!
That's why we give these great people a stage. With you, on site, in your school. So that they can continue to provide impetus after the event through direct contact with the audience. Because:
We want to change the educational landscape.
Because topics such as humanity, courage, self-esteem, self-reflection, self-awareness and many more need to be taught to our youngest children!
