Nominated for the 2026 Mülheim Drama Prize: "Die kleinen Meerjungraun" by Kim de l'Horizon

Rock, forest and clouds, a patch of earth. On it, as if washed up, a naked man lies motionless. Three very contemporary beings appear in this museum-like artistic idyll. This is the choir of the Meerjungraun. Without f, because they are gender-fluid hybrids, but related in fate to Andersen's fairytale mermaid, because the Raun are also stranded in circumstances that contradict their non-binary nature. Out of love, they strive to adapt. Adaptation leads to pain. And from pain, Kim de l'Horizon, Swiss literary shooting star, creates a plea against normative thinking and for a path to queer self-detachment. A play as powerful as a rapids.
