Nominated for the Mülheim Drama Prize 2026: "2x241 titles twice as good as Martin Kippenberger" by Frankfurter Hauptschule
The first play by the art collective Frankfurter Hauptschule takes up two iconic works by multi-artist Kippenberger: his book "241 Bildtitel zum Ausleihen für Künstler" (1984) and his painting "Ich kann beim besten Willen kein Hakenkreuz erkennen" (1984) - a picture full of interlocking cross-shaped areas. With reference to the ingenious silliness of the New Frankfurt School, the Frankfurters turn both ideas into 482 possible work titles, mostly oneliners between wordplay, art insidery, class clown prose - and right-wing derailment. It starts out quite funny until the jokes get increasingly out of hand. (Franz Wille)
