With beyond tongues - Synaesthetic Transmission, Galerie im Saalbau presents the first comprehensive exhibition by the artist duo Sarah Oh-Mock and Bongjun Oh, who have been working together in ever-changing constellations for ten years. In expansive arrangements of objects, photographs, videos and installations, an archive of their joint practice is created, which transforms experiences from different places, cultures and phases of life into a multi-layered network.

At the heart of the exhibition is the question of the possibilities of communication beyond language. While verbal forms of expression come up against the boundaries of origin, translation or attribution, the two artists see art as a universal level of deeper encounter. Their works develop a transcultural aesthetic that undermines national attributions and seeks common ground in the space between cultures, bodies and images.

The aesthetic penetration of everyday materials, the poetic tension between image and object and the sensitive interweaving of biographical and collective experiences turn the exhibition into a course that challenges perception not only visually, but also atmospherically and synaesthetically.
