Bad Oeynhausen (NRW) lies on the old trade route from Amsterdam via Berlin to Warsaw. When, after more than 30 years of planning and constant congestion, work begins on building a bypass highway around the spa town, all the residents of Bad Oeynhausen realize that this construction project will change their town forever. Sensitively and with a lot of humor, the documentary uses lovable protagonists to show a picture of the town as it will never exist again after the opening of the new freeway.
