Berlin mit den Ohren – explo soundwalks

In the organizer's words:

Excursions into the "symphony of everyday life" as a prelude to the concert that follows.

John Cage once said: "A noise is perceived as disturbing - unless you listen to it."

R. Murray Schafer went much further in his 1972 study "The Tuning of the World" and recognized the sounds of our everyday environment as essential for our well-being and even our health. Improving and stabilizing the quality and balance of these regular sounds of a soundscape is the main concern of the now globally significant movement of "acoustic ecology".

The Explo Soundwalks, which have been on offer since 2014, are guided excursions into the diverse "symphony of everyday life" - which we all constantly help to shape, for better or worse. An introduction at the beginning and a concluding discussion reflect once again on the soundscapes experienced and their sonic characteristics in comparison.

The soundwalks always take place before one of our concerts and are scheduled so that all participants are back at the exploratorium in time for the concert.
