Berliner Demokratietag – Mitmachfest am 14. September und Aktionsmonat September

Where does Berlin show what it can do together? At the Berlin Democracy Day! Every year, around the International Day of Democracy on September 15, Berlin Democracy Day makes visible how diverse the commitment to participation and cohesion is in our city.

Throughout September, campaigns and events take place in all of Berlin's districts that focus on democratic values and togetherness - whether it's a neighborhood campaign, pop-up exhibition, neighborhood festival or workshop. Everywhere in Berlin, people are creating, listening and asking questions.

The centerpiece is the big hands-on festival on September 14 (11-17h) in front of the Amerika-Gedenkbibliothek: over 50 Berlin initiatives, associations, NGOs, schools and companies invite you to take part in creative activities and open workshops. You can print jute bags, design memes, solve quizzes on democracy, try out VR glasses or record your own podcast - there are exciting hands-on activities for all age groups. Music, discussions and new perspectives make the day a lively celebration of democracy.

Democracy Day 2025 is organized by the Stiftung Zukunft Berlin and sponsored by the Senate Department for Culture and Social Cohesion. With the kind support of the Zentral- und Landesbibliothek Berlin.
