The tranquil spa town of Bad Salzuflen in East Westphalia has produced songwriters such as Frank Spilker (Die Sterne), Bernadette La Hengst (Die Braut haut ins Auge), Jochen Distelmeyer (Blumfeld) and Bernd Begemann. They all sought their musical perspective in Hamburg, where they founded the so-called "Hamburg School" in the early 1990s. Bernd Begemann was always a kind of pacemaker and crystallization point of this scene. With his lyrics and music, he created a new version of pop beyond the mainstream. 25 years ago, he finally founded Bernd Begemann & die Befreiung, "his" band, with whom he plays live shows and releases albums at irregular intervals. The new album, now his sixth, will be released in early 2027 and then he will go on an anniversary tour with Kai Dorenkamp, Achim Erz and Ben Schadow.
