Lale lives "somewhere in Germany" with her parents and her brother Lilo. But nothing is normal here, in the country that is a refuge for the family. Mom, who is no longer allowed to write, falls silent; Dad struggles to maintain any semblance of order. Only when the family's couch begins to speak do the walls around their experiences slowly begin to come down. "Bu sözler bizim" uses poetic images to tell of the experience of flight and the chance to face up to one's own history.
