Champions Slam | Open Air

Seriously. What else can we tell you? An open air poetry slam with the best poets around. Six champions from all over the country. The biggest open-air cinema in Berlin. You know what that means. A show for poetry slam fans who have seen it all. An evening for poetry slam newcomers who take cake for breakfast. A slam for people who no longer know what orange juice tastes like without champagne. And of course for people who really like eating popcorn!

KIRSTEN FUCHS

Kirsten Fuchs is a writer, reading stage author and columnist who lives in Berlin.

In 2003 she won the Open Mike, in 2025 she won the Berlin-Brandenburg Poetry Slam Championship.

She regularly writes columns for "Das Magazin" and is a member of the reading stages "Fuchs und Söhne", "D.E.O. - Des Esels Ohr" and "Potshow".

JAN CÖNIG

Jan Cönig from Frankfurt is a multiple Hessen champion and finalist in the German-language poetry slam championships, a passionate turtle keeper and social worker.

With his mostly funny texts, he manages to entertain without omitting serious topics.

Born in Frankfurt, he has been performing on slam stages in Germany and abroad for more than ten years.

HANNAH ABELIUS

Hannah Abelius from Leipzig is the most successful East German poetry slammer of the moment.

With her disturbing and humorous texts, the trained sex and couples counselor breaks taboos on German-language slam stages.

As the Saxon state champion, she represents the poetry slam scene around Leipzig and Dresden.

LENNART HAMANN

The 3-time Schleswig-Holstein champion Lennart Hamann stands for energetic performances and eloquent, rhyme-heavy texts.

As the MacGyver of North German cabaret, he can be seen not only at poetry slams and readings but also as an amateur actor on theater stages, as a filmmaker and occasionally even as a singer who entertains audiences to the extreme or completely confuses them.

MEIKE HARMS

Meike Harms is the Bavarian champion representing southern Germany at the Champions Slam.

The author and poetry slammer has been a big name on the Munich scene for well over 10 years. She writes stage poetry and poetry for children, runs a reading stage and writes about freedom, bees and the origins of life. She likes letters in all flavors and bicycles.

ARNOLD PRETZLAW

As Berlin's U20 champion, Arnold Pretzlaw is the high-flyer of the capital's poetry scene. In his poetry, he oscillates between free form and fixed stylistic patterns. His love of rhythms is a common thread running through his young and fresh work. In terms of content, he locates himself between serious farewell and gecko techno (Geckno).

ANTONIA JOSEFA

Antonia Josefa is not only considered a virtuoso linguistic artist, but also strikes a chord with her profound messages.

Since 2022, she has not only been traveling throughout the German-speaking world with her artistic work, but has also founded projects such as the queer-feminist reading stage Womansplained and the poetry-dance event Beyond Slam.

She represents the state championship of Lower Saxony/Bremen at the Champions Slam.
