Scottish composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist Liam Shortall, aka corto.alto, makes music on his own terms: Sounds that speak not only of his time in Glasgow's emerging and creative music scene, but also of a diverse range of influences. They draw as much from his passion for club culture and electronic music as they do from his love of classic hip-hop, soul and funk.

His debut album Bad With Names was shortlisted for the prestigious Mercury Prize (2024), won 'Best Album' at the Scottish Jazz Awards and was voted 'Band of the Year' at the Jazz FM Awards (2025) - a public vote in which Ezra Collective and Nubya Garcia were the other nominees. He was also nominated in the Independent Breakthrough category at the AIM Awards 2025.

Recently signed to legendary label Ninja Tune, his single DON'T LISTEN once again showcased his knack for seamlessly blending diverse styles. The track received tremendous radio support and was part of BBC 6 Music's A-Playlist for four weeks.

In the past 18 months, the band have played over 120 gigs including the West Holts Stage at Glastonbury Festival, headlining the main stage at We Out Here, Latitude, North Sea Jazz Festival, Montreux Jazz Festival, Cross The Tracks and a sold out UK tour culminating in a performance in front of 2,000 people in his home town at the legendary Barrowland Ballroom.
