»Der Schlüssel würde noch passen« Ein Abend mit Irina Scherbakowa

After the outbreak of the war of aggression in Ukraine, Irina Scherbakowa, Nobel Peace Prize winner and founder of the human rights organization "Memorial", had to leave her homeland in a very short time; in exile in Germany today, she continues her work as an activist and writer ("My Father's Hands" and others). An old life cannot be packed into two suitcases, she clarifies - what remains is the memory: as an autobiographical non-fiction book, "Der Schlüssel würde noch passen" (Droemer) brings together experiences, scenes and descriptions from Moscow before Putin's autocracy, during the brief 1990s years of "perestroika". It is the impressive retrospective of a contemporary witness, a report "about a missed opportunity and the lessons for the present" (Die Zeit).
