QueerHistoryMonth | Die eigene queere Geschichte schreiben | Workshop

In the organizer's words:

QUEERHISTORYMONTH

QueerHistoryMonth will take place in Hamburg from May 1 to 31, 2026(www.queerhistoryhamburg.de). Various events as part of the festival will bring the history(ies) of the queer community in Hamburg to life. Everyone is welcome - kings, queers, queens, allies, friends, families (of choice) and everyone in between and beyond!

The event

As part of a queer culture of remembrance, we want to approach writing about our own experiences in this writing workshop.

Queer life realities are often marginalized by historiography and archives or are not collected at all. Together, we want to try to put our own experiences into words and record memories and, as part of a queer culture of remembrance, we want to deal with our personal stories in this workshop and try to record some of them.

We will use exercises from creative and autobiographical writing to approach our own topics. In a safe space, we want to write together, read texts and talk about them. You can write in the language you feel comfortable with and no previous experience is necessary. Queers only.
