Earth Day - day of action at the Mohr Villa
Join in. Lead the way. Live consciously sustainable.
Sat., 25.04.2026, 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.
"Sustainability is not a sacrifice. It is an opportunity for clean air, secure energy sources and places where we want to live" - according to the Earth Day International website. The Mohr-Villa shows that sustainability is fun and can bring people together on its Earth Day action day with a wide range of activities:
At a clothes carousel, items of clothing that have been forgotten in the closet can be given a new lease of life and give joy to new owners: inside. If a swapped item doesn't fit perfectly, it can be adjusted directly in the sewing and upcycling workshop with professional help. New raised beds will be built for the community garden project "Mohr-Villa pflanzt an" and there will be a community waste collection campaign "Freimann müllt weg". Solar 2030 and the Kartoffelkombinat will also be providing information on sustainable energy and nutrition. And the Department for Climate and Environmental Protection of the City of Munich will be at the Mohr-Villa with an information stand on the Harkortweg climate quarter.
The clothes carousel invites you to simply swap clothes you no longer wear and get them back into circulation. What no longer has a place in your own wardrobe can become a new favorite for others - and vice versa, you can discover new items yourself while browsing. This creates a lively exchange that is both fun and sustainable. The rules for the clothes carousel can be found on the Mohr-Villa website.
The sewing and upcycling workshop takes place regularly on the grounds of the Mohr Villa. This time, however, the combination with the clothes carousel makes it something very special: with the professional help of fashion designer Julia Löw, clothes from the clothes carousel that do not yet fit perfectly can be quickly and easily adapted.
As part of the sustainability concept, the "Mohr-Villa plants" project was launched 10 years ago to create a place where people can come together, work in the garden and enjoy themselves. Over the years, raised beds have been planted, an insect-friendly flower strip has been created, a grapevine by the house, sunflowers by the garden fence, a compost and hedgehog hotels. Gardening days are held in spring and fall, combining gardening with valuable conversations and encounters. On Earth Day, new raised beds are now being built, which were procured with the kind support of the Department for Climate and Environmental Protection, and the garden team is looking forward to helping hands to lend a hand.
As part of Freimann müllt weg, the Mohr-Villa wants to encourage people to become active themselves and take the initiative for a clean Freimann. Grabbers, recyclable bin bags and gloves will be available at the entrance to the building. Participants can use these to collect garbage anywhere in Freimann and thus contribute to a clean district together!
Solar 2030 e.V. offers support and advice in the field of photovoltaics for everyone, with a particular focus on balcony power plants. The aim is to raise awareness of the possibilities and necessity of the energy transition among the population. Anyone interested in participating in the energy transition and thinking about switching to solar energy can talk to specialists from Solar 2030 e.V..
The Kartoffelkombinat is Germany's largest solidarity-based, cooperative-organized farm and supplies around 3,000 households in and around Munich with seasonal, regional and Naturland-certified organic vegetables every week, which are grown in their nursery west of Munich. Together with the members, they want to make a contribution to fair, sustainable and ecologically valuable coexistence that also tastes indescribably good!
The Department for Climate and Environmental Protection will be providing information on the Harkortweg climate quarter to show how sustainable development and future prospects are being implemented in the district. There will be an opportunity to meet the redevelopment managers for the district and find out more about the results of the integrated district concept.
The Mohr-Villa team is looking forward to welcoming many visitors!
