What does it mean to grow up within a system of imposed rituals, and how can these rituals be rewritten to express self-affirmation?

'Quinceañeras' is based on the traditional Latin American ritual of the fifteenth birthday - the symbolic transition from girl to woman. In this celebration, rooted in colonial influences and reinvented meanings, Estefania Alvarez Ramírez and Luisa Fernanda Alfonso explore how traditions can be as limiting as they are liberating.

The two Colombian artists living in Europe approach this topic from the perspective of migrant women. Their friendship inspired their creative process: trusting, caring and playful, they explore new forms of female representation. Through dance and music, they transform the stage into a hybrid space in which excess, emotion, nostalgia and absence are intertwined.
