Yasmeen Godder Company ›SHELLING‹

In this solo, Israeli artist Yasmeen Godder, who grew up in New York as the granddaughter of Polish and Syrian grandparents, invites the audience to an intimate encounter with the body as a living archive: a repository of traces, memories and stories in constant flux - porous, resistant and in a permanent state of realignment.

The title 'SHELLING' simultaneously refers to the terms enclosure and impact - and thus focuses on the body as a protective shell as well as a place that is shaped by external forces.

Developed from an intensive choreographic examination of empathy as a unifying, resistant practice, the performance unfolds in movements between impulse, collapse and reshaping. 'SHELLING' listens to the inner voice of the body and poses the question: How can a body resist without breaking?
