Two women work in a butcher's shop. The two stranded men are left to their own devices. Even though they like to dish it out in their rough trade, the two are there for each other. Making fun sandwiches provides a distraction and an opportunity to get to know each other. Both seem to have ended up here by necessity. One as an unsuccessful actress and the other as a ticket inspector with a gambling addiction. Their desires meet in the moon: Luna is the name of one's unborn child, while the other is certain that the Big Moon joker will finally spit out money next time. But since it has never come to that, she has a criminal record for arrears and other offenses. The only other job she has found is in the butcher's shop. But are the shady owners really sincere towards her, or is she just a means to an end on their way to power?

Anaïs Clerc has written a play about friendship, empathy and their limits. Full of humor and love, she draws characters who fall through the social cracks and illustrates the danger of ending up in the wrong arms in the search for support.

The world premiere of "rotting moon" was in 2024 at the Stadttheater Gießen.
