The big picture begins here on a small scale: in a place that politics seems to have long forgotten, in a neighborhood that so many people are gradually leaving, where the Späti "Paradies" remains one of the few places where people come together.

There is the Späti owner Andi: he is the one who stays. Around him: people who come and go and those who only turn up once. Andi provides them with everything a Späti has to offer, but above all with an open ear for their worries and stories. Like Klara, for example, who works in care, or Martin, who is shuffling from job to job. There is also Theo, the philogynous letter carrier who dreams away from his loneliness, and Rosi, the dry alcoholic. Until a letter flutters in from the landlord and calls Andi's existence into question.

Anyone who wants to understand who sustains our society and what holds it together, anyone who has questions about our times should, in Andi's words, "sit down here in this store".
