37th Turkish Film Festival
Venue: Hall E, Projector
Filmmakers from Turkey reflect on one question behind ever higher walls: to show or not to show? Six works form a collective narrative about censorship and self-censorship, each shedding light on different facets of the topic. Material from unrealized documentary films, interviews, inscriptions on prison walls, pictures that could not be printed and letters that were not sent. The anthology, which is well worth seeing, reveals the limits and fragility of artistic production under repressive conditions in an experimental film language.

For ten days, the 37th Turkish Film Festival 2026 Munich will present feature films, documentaries and short films at the Royal Filmpalast and Gasteig HP8. They tell of escapes from reality, of inequality and solidarity, of being a woman and a mother, of the power of art and imagination. They provide an insight into what is currently moving society and into the turbulent years of its history. Touching, moving and often with a good dose of humor!
