Hildesheimer Debüt: Kathrin Bach liest aus „Lebensversicherung"

Kathrin Bach studied at the Hildesheim Literature Institute. Her debut "Lebensversicherung", published in 2025, was immediately nominated for the longlist of the German Book Prize. The novel explores childhood memories, family history and Hessian village life through the unconventional literary theme of insurance. In humorous, touching and entertaining prose miniatures, the author portrays growing up with the so German "German Angst".

Bach succeeds in drawing a memorable picture of longing, insecurities and quiet resistance from poetic details of everyday observations and snippets of thought. She delicately weaves memories, lists and small scenes into a family story - carried by sensitivity, irony and a keen eye for social milieus.
