The world is full of contradictions, ambivalences and misunderstandings - which is perhaps due to the fact that Homo sapiens is a prime example of strange behavior. Although this can be forgiven in view of the complexity of the modern world, in which the lights of the past repeatedly cast shadows on the future. In its complexity, the world becomes opaque for people, who lose sight of the essentials. And the humor along with it.

But is the world really so complex or have we just forgotten the simple things? The aphorist and cartoonist Thomas Bäder deliberately reduces the complexity of life to a minimum. He likes to think about the world for a long time in order to finally work out in a few words what seems strange, contradictory or ambivalent to him. When he has found clarity for himself, he writes an aphorism or draws a cartoon - to reduce the topics to their true size. Because nothing is as clear as it seems at first glance, Bäder deals with some topics again and again. His aphorisms are perceptions, insights, conclusions or points of view that sometimes elicit an "aha", sometimes an "ouch" from the viewer. Or both. In his cartoons, the artist takes a humorous look at the events of our time, in which people's inner worlds are as confusing as the outer worlds they have created.
