Green hydrogen is being talked about as the champagne of the energy transition, but also as an absolute necessity. The lecture will examine the various arguments for and against green hydrogen and highlight the opportunities and challenges of this energy source. Green hydrogen is produced without greenhouse gases through the electrolysis of water with renewable electricity and could decarbonize sectors that have been difficult to reach up to now. The presentation will explain key aspects in an understandable way: how could it work, what hurdles need to be overcome?
