Jambo Trio
The Jambo Tr io is based on the classic tradition of the samba jazz trios of the 1950s and 1960s and combines elements of North American jazz, samba, Latin jazz and bossa nova. The repertoire includes original compositions as well as works by composers associated with this genre, such as Baden Powell, Moacir Santos, César Camargo Mariano, J. Meirelles, João Donato and others.
The Jambo Trio has a classic line-up: jazz piano trio - piano, double bass and drums. On piano: Luis Henrique New, on bass: Everson Vargas and on drums: Ricardo Arenhaldt.
All members of the Jambo Trio have an academic education in music and are also active as lecturers in addition to their stage work. The members of the Jambo Trio have already gained professional experience in various parts of the world, including Japan, Europe, Latin America and North Africa.
The group was formed in 2019 and is becoming increasingly important in the Brazilian cultural scene. Their repertoire consists of their own compositions as well as works by some of the composers who inspired the creation of the Jambo Trio's characteristic sound.
After years of work and intense musical development, the three members of the Jambo Trio feel ready to record an album of original compositions, as they have already presented this repertoire with great acclaim and success at jazz festivals and instrumental music events.
The diversity of the three members' musical experiences contributes to the development of the trio's musical language, which has now developed its own distinctive sound with a lot of personality.
New interpretations, when they occur, are already in line with the musical language and concept of the Jambo Trio.
It is important to mention that samba-jazz trios have served as the basis for numerous bossa nova and MPB (Música Popular Brasileira) artists.
The Jambo Trio is increasingly establishing itself as an important group in the instrumental music scene and has already participated in numerous events in cultural and institutional settings.
In 2023, the group performed on two important stages: the International Jazz Day (an event initiated by pianist Herbie Hancock and held annually around the world) at Farol Santander and the Poa Jazz Festival.
The group has also committed to performing eight concerts at Sixteen Jazz in 2023. It regularly invites musicians and singers from the music scene, creates varied programs, including a tribute to Raul de Souza and Adão Pinheiro, and collaborates with international musicians such as Ademir Cândido, Jorginho do Trumpete, Juliano Barreto and others.
