„Jewish America On Screen“: BETWEEN THE TEMPLES (OV-Fassung)

Ben, a cantor in his mid-40s, is about to lose his voice and probably his faith. As he struggles to fulfill the expectations of his rabbi, his congregation and his two Jewish mothers, an old acquaintance suddenly turns up: Feisty Carla, his music teacher from elementary school days and now a late bat mitzvah student in his congregation, could be the jolt in his life he didn't even know he needed. The unexpected but increasingly close bond between Ben and Carla is threatened by two external factors: Carla's son, who harbors a deep suspicion of his mother's sudden religiosity, and Gabby, who also seems to be trying to win Ben's affections.
