Jugend jazzt-Sessionabend

In the organizer's words:

From May 14 to 17, 2026, the 21st National Youth Jazz Encounter will take place in Halle. The city on the Saale will host this jazz event for the second time after 2007. Exciting competitions, varied concerts, sessions and workshops will take place in the Puschkinhaus, on the Peißnitzinsel, in the Georgenkirche and at the Institute of Music at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg. The participating jazz combos have impressed at state level and thus qualified for this national meeting. They can now demonstrate their skills in front of a prominent jury and audience at national level.

Since the first national meeting in 1997, the Federal Ministry of Education, Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth has supported this nationwide project to promote young jazz musicians. Other sponsors include the host federal state and the host city. Deutschlandfunk has been a partner and prize sponsor from the very beginning. In Halle, the Federal Encounter is sponsored by the State Chancellery and Ministry of Culture of Saxony-Anhalt and the City of Halle. The Landesmusikrat Sachsen-Anhalt e.V. supports the German Music Council as a competent partner.

The session at the Peißnitzhaus ...

... with opener bands and jam opportunities for all participants, the Jugend jazzt session evening opens its doors on the Peißnitzinsel. In this way, the Jugend jazzt national meeting promotes musical exchange between young jazz musicians. Sessions in particular offer an excellent opportunity to get to know fellow musicians from all over Germany outside of the competitions, to make music with them and to gain new experiences. Free admission!
