A lively coming-of-age drama from Sudan

Fifteen-year-old Nafisa lives in a traditional cotton village in Sudan. She is on summer vacation and has to help her grandmother with the cotton harvest with her friends. She is also in love for the first time - with a boy from the village. Her grandmother Al-Sit, the respected matriarch, holds the reins of the village firmly in her hands and passes on her knowledge to Nafisa. The arrival of Nadir, a young Sudanese businessman from abroad, threatens to shake up the life of the village with new technologies in cotton cultivation. Nafisa's parents sense an opportunity to marry their daughter to Nadir and thus increase the family's wealth. Torn between the demands of her family and her desire for independence, Nafisa must find her own path between tradition and modernity.
