An unsparing analysis of the political situation in the USA by renowned America expert Klaus Brinkbäumer
The American dream has degenerated into a nightmare: Since Donald Trump took office, democratic rules and norms have been suspended or abolished. Fascists are in government, spreading victim myths and fantasies of superiority, attacking universities and the media. They have abandoned the idea that a change of power is part and parcel of democracy, have declared their opponents to be the enemy and themselves to be superior. Long-time US correspondent Klaus Brinkbäumer has traveled through the country, spoken to MAGA people, journalists and academics and has come to the conclusion that the situation has never been darker: Things have never looked gloomier.
