Introduction and rehearsal visit. If you would like to know what to expect from our new productions and upcoming concerts before the premiere, the taster sessions are the right place for you. They offer all interested parties the opportunity to get an insight into our program in advance - free of charge! This time: "Die tote Stadt", an opera by Erich Wolfgang Korngold, which premieres on May 2 in the main auditorium of the Stadttheater.

About the play:
The mysterious Marietta awakens painful memories of a man: Paul, who lives in the "dead city" - the place where past and present merge. Torn between his grief for his deceased wife Marie and his obsession with Marietta, Paul increasingly loses touch with reality. He asks himself: "How far should our grief go without uprooting us?" Erich Wolfgang Korngold's score, ripe for film music, delves deep into this world of melancholy and inner turmoil. With opulent sounds and emotional intensity, a gripping drama about love, loss and the abysses of the psyche is created.
