Farewell, fashion and new beginnings. In his new novel, Leif Randt tells the story of boutique owner Marian Flanders, who slips into a kind of midlife crisis after the death of his mother, in his unmistakably floating tone. Between melancholy and longing, Marian tries to reorganize not only his financially unsuccessful fashion boutique, but also his life. Randt's novel is perfectly balanced pop literature that searches for meaning and utopias on a small scale beneath the surface.

Leif Randt, born in Frankfurt am Main in 1983, is the author of five novels and a feature film. Previous publications include the utopias Planet Magnon (2015) and Shimmering Haze over CobyCounty (2011), the London novel Leuchtspielhaus (2009) and the love story Allegro Pastell (2020). His prose has received numerous awards, most recently the Hölderlin Prize of the City of Bad Homburg (2023). In April, Leif Randt will be writing the eponymous column SATZWENDE for the Bremen literary magazine on the subject of #Consumption.
