we're glad to share an upcoming evening with Milad Khawam, Salam Alhassan, Modar Salama, Mikail Yakut as Fatat Band, and a dance performance by Mona Farivar on 16.05.2026 at Altes Pfandhaus Cologne.

Fatat Band brings Berlin-based Levant vibes. Trumpet leads over punchy Arabic percussion, accompanied by accordion, with bittersweet lyrics that make you dance and listen deeply in the same breath, striking the heart with raw emotion.

Milad Khawam is a Syrian-born composer, producer, and trumpet player based in Berlin, working at the intersection of Arabic music, classical training, and crossover jazz. His compositions are deeply narrative, shaped by migration, identity, and personal history.

Salam Alhassan is a Berlin-based percussionist and multidisciplinary artist originally from Aleppo, Syria. Known for his rhythmic collaborations with international music collectives, he performs with multinational ensembles, specializing in merging diverse global rhythms and genres.

Based in the Netherlands, Modar Salama is a professional percussionist known for bridging traditional Middle Eastern rhythms with contemporary Western beats, creating a unique sonic experience that transcends borders.

Born in Turkey with Georgian roots, Mikail Yakut performed with numerous folk music ensembles in Istanbul before relocating to Berlin, where he studied classical accordion and jazz piano. Through contemporary, improvised, and theater music, he continues exploring and expanding the expressive possibilities of his instrument across genres.

The evening also features TIKKÉ TIKKÉ by Mona Farivar. In this work, she peels back the layers of identity piece by piece, exploring the transgenerational burden of an Iranian family in Germany. Through confronting personal history and emotion through dance, she creates an autonomous space of reflection and encounter. Combining hip-hop and elements of traditional Persian dance in freestyle, she has developed a distinct movement language that reflects painful experiences while creating spaces of strength.
