16:30 - 17:45 | ClaRo city walk
This walk follows in the footsteps of Clara and Robert from the city center to the Schumann House. At selected stops you will learn more about the eventful lives of the Schumanns. Afterwards, the opening concert awaits you in the historic Schumann Hall.

18:00 - 18:45 | Children in scene: Of wild riders and distant lands
In the Schumanns' former salon, young pianists from Anja Kleinmichel's piano class will open the Museum Night at the Schumann House. Works by Clara and Robert Schumann, Frédéric Chopin and Felix Mendelssohn meet the children's own compositions. A lively start full of joyful playing.

18:00 - 20:00 | String sound and bow magic
Master violin maker Albrecht Franz and his team open the door to the world of string instruments: try out the violin, viola, cello and double bass for yourself and playfully discover the magic of their sounds!
Do you have questions about repairs, buying, renting or building a new instrument? The team is there to help and advise you. A sonorous adventure for young and old.

Help Clara and Robert uncover hidden secrets, follow in the footsteps of the music and solve tricky puzzles. Each room holds new surprises. Whoever finds the correct answer at the end will receive a postcard from Clara herself.

18:00 - 22:00 | History to wear
Have you ever heard of a frock coat, chapeau claque or crinoline? In this workshop, anyone who enjoys dressing up can slip into the past themselves: tailor and paint simple items of clothing and discover the fashion trends of the 19th century. A souvenir photo will be taken at the end.

During this entertaining guided tour, you will learn how Clara and Robert Schumann became the ideal image of a Romantic artist couple. Letters and the marriage diary provide intimate insights: arguments about thin walls, everyday habits and an extraordinary life together.

20:00 - 20:30 & 22:00 - 22:30 | Ideal and reality
Wouldn't it be ideal if reality were based on our dreams? It remains a wish. With texts and songs, students of the HMT Leipzig (Prof. Otto's singing class) embark on a search for the ideal in reality. Songs by the Schumanns as well as friends and companions will be performed. Prof. Hudezeck will accompany on the grand piano.

21:00 - 21:30 | Leipzig compositions of the Romantic period
Leipzig was an important musical center of the 19th century. Edvard Grieg from Norway and Leoš Janáček from Bohemia, for example, came to the city to study. Leipzig pianist Anja Kleinmichel plays piano music by Clara and Robert Schumann, Edvard Grieg and Leoš Janáček and talks about her connections to the city of Leipzig.
