The contractions began abruptly. The Helsinki Klub in Zurich writhed and screamed. Less than three hours later, personne was born. A caesarean section was not necessary. personne ran before she could walk and sang before she spoke. "attention economy" is personne's first big sign: An EP that was born as abruptly as the band itself. Unconditional inventiveness, anger and the courage to criticize unite the three great musicians into a sparkling unit of hope.

Anna Girsberger, Paul Studer and Basil Schreyer had to find each other. All born in the early 00s and socialized in the tense fields of digital dopamine, virtualized encounters and late-stage capitalism, they are ready to shake off the fast pace. They long for meaning beyond the visible and for real connections. "attention economy" is a critique of a world increasingly defined by presence, and its antithesis in one: analog, warm, human music that evokes associations with the surreal pop worlds of Aldous Harding, the uncompromising honesty of Sophie Hunger and the lyrical depths of Adrienne Lenker.
Three very headstrong characters with different musical backgrounds come together to draw strength from their differences. "We like to bang our heads, but consciously and always in the best possible way," says the band. They distil their zeal from heated, passionate discussions. Like a fire hitting tinder, personne recorded their first EP in May 2025; the recordings with German producer Phil Eulgem were eventful and productive in a short space of time.

These are songs in the field of tension between identity, personality cult and belonging. The opener "avalanche" is a call for liberation, radioheadesque harmonies, piano and drums rush and fly. "synesthesia" is an urgent stomper against sensory overload, an appeal to trust in one's own senses in times of omnipresent irritation. "mad girl" is a feverish homage to the poet Sylvia Plath, love and delusion united in wandering piano, encouraging drums, vocals from a dream. "coffee grounds" searches for stability and meaning in errant times, allowing instruments and voice to drift apart and come together. "changing choosing winning losing" is a decision against stagnation - a quiet but all the more emphatic impulse to reclaim freedom.

Anna Girsberger is a singer and multi-instrumentalist who released her highly acclaimed solo debut as Anna Rey on Red Brick Records in 2025 and has worked with artists such as Andrina Bollinger, Rob Luft and To Athena. Paul Studer is a bassist with roots in jazz and pop and has played with Fräulein Luise Chris Cheek, Adam O'Farrill and Grégoire Maret, among others. As a drummer, Basil Schreyer has helped shape the scene in western Switzerland and won the M4Music Demotape Clinic 2025 with his band Polar Bären.

"attention economy" will be released on February 27, 2026 by Two Gentlemen and Irascible Records.
