Potsdamer Tanztage 2026 – Undercurrents / Podziemne Prądy

In the organizer's words:

Undercurrents is a choreographic search for traces of what lies beneath the surface: memory as a quiet current, as inherited movement, as history inscribed in the body. Past and present overlap, enter into dialog, contradict and support each other.

Two dancers and a double bass player give physical form to lost, repressed or fragmented memories. Buried and forgotten stories slowly resurface. Fragments are rearranged. What has long remained unspoken is translated anew into movement. A fabric becomes the connecting element, as skin, border, protection and resonance space all at the same time. It reminds us of what separates us and what sustains us. The result is an intimate bridge: a dance about memory, about connection and transformation, about identity.

Undercurrents was commissioned by SZIH and the POLIN Museum in Warsaw: a creation that emergedas a position on the exhibition 1945: Not the end, not the beginningand was premiered in the museum in Sep 2025.
