QueerHistoryMonth | PRIDE | Kinofilm

In the organizer's words:

QUEERHISTORYMONTH

QueerHistoryMonth will take place in Hamburg from May 1 to 31, 2026(www.queerhistoryhamburg.de). Various events as part of the festival will bring the history(ies) of the queer community in Hamburg to life. Everyone is welcome - kings, queers, queens, allies, friends, families (of choice) and everyone in between and beyond!

The event

The movie PRIDE shows how queer activists and trade unions live solidarity together - then and now.

ver.di queer Hamburg invites you to a movie night. The film "PRIDE" will be shown - a moving story about solidarity between the queer community and the trade union movement.

The film tells the true story of a group of lesbian and gay activists who collected money for striking workers and their families during the British miners' strike in 1984/85. From initial skepticism, an unexpected, strong alliance emerges - and an impressive example of how solidarity can grow across social boundaries.

This story in particular shows why cooperation between the queer movement and trade unions is important: discrimination, social insecurity and working conditions affect many people not only in the workplace, but also in their everyday lives.

Colleagues in ver.di have also been involved in the QUEER group for many years. After all, our private lives do not end at the office door or the factory gate - experiences with diversity, discrimination or social acceptance also have an impact on our working lives.

With this film evening, we would like to take a look at this special history of solidarity together, talk about it and celebrate Queer History Month in Hamburg with an open evening of solidarity at the Gewerkschaftsklub.

We look forward to seeing everyone interested!
