In the organizer's words:

"The Quatuor Ébène treats Beethoven's string quartets as if they had just been discovered, with energy, care and dedication", enthused Deutschlandfunk when the ensemble presented its complete recording of Beethoven's quartets. Starting this season, the four will present the cycle in our Quartet series. The second installment offers two contrasting works from the early Opus 18 - the lively and gallant A major quartet and the darkly dramatic C minor quartet. In addition, there is the multi-layered Opus 127, which forms the prelude to Beethoven's late string quartets with its lyrical intimacy and folkloristic coarseness.
