Is there any other way to encounter the present than in spaces in between? riss is a book of laconic perspectives on unreasonable conditions. With short texts - light, wry poems - and snapshots of everyday life, rays of hope are sought out in the supposedly marginal. The falsely rhymed and the sober view are praised as a form for when reason and logic no longer determine social action.

As a mirror of an unstable time, the dramaturgy of the spaces between text and image describes a precision in the approximate. After the gentle remembrance of the musician Jaki Liebezeit (JAKI NOTES), riss is the second book by the author duo Manos Tsangaris and Stefan Kraus. For the book launch, a performative version will be developed in which the poems by Manos Tsangaris, the light images by Stefan Kraus and the playing of cellist Hyun-Jung Berger react to each other.

At a time when the narratives of social media, short clips, fake news and AI are becoming a political power factor, a resistant, ultimately enlightening aesthetic is becoming a duty. However, it often unfolds its power precisely when it is not ostensibly political. How can resistance then succeed? The Akademie der Künste is dedicating a series of events to this question.
