Der Spatz als Botschafter der Stadtnatur

Traveling exhibition by the Landesbund für Vogelschutz:

Sparrows, swallows, swifts, kestrels, jackdaws and bats - they all find a home in residential and commercial buildings, churches, under bridges and in historic buildings in our city. These so-called "building breeders" have adapted to the urban habitat as cultural successors. Some of them are now so highly specialized that the niches and crevices in buildings are the only way for them to find a nesting place or roost.

But after centuries of adaptation and specialization, building nesting birds are now more dependent than ever on our help and consideration. Many of our fellow inhabitants from the animal kingdom are endangered in Bavaria. One reason for this is the increasing loss of nesting sites and roosts due to conversion measures, building renovation or deterrence.

On this occasion, the traveling exhibition of the Landesbund für Vogelschutz (LBV) presents some building breeders, shows their way of life and makes suggestions on how we can preserve their habitats.
