Sameach - dance of words, sound of songs
"Sameach" is a Jewish festival of the senses, in which dance and music take center stage. The Leipzig dance ensemble Sameach and the world music ensemble The String Company join forces to create a lively evening of Israeli dances and Yiddish, Hebrew and Sephardic songs. Traditional forms meet contemporary choreographies and musical arrangements between klezmer, world music, folk and chanson.
The artistic program is complemented by the documentary film "Anne Frank - A Living History" (2005, Horst Edler), which places the evening in a wider historical and social context. The ensemble invites the audience to a discussion afterwards.
"Sameach" combines movement, sound and memory to create an open, touching cultural experience and makes Jewish culture today a sensual and lively experience.
Supported by the Cultural Foundation of the Free State of Saxony. This measure is co-financed by tax funds on the basis of the budget approved by the Saxon State Parliament.

The singer Marion Minkus will be accompanied by Lev Guzman (viola) | Peter Kluge (guitar) | Silke Krappel (accordion) | Nils Würfel (double bass) | Eric Ebeling (sound design).
