SATTAS

In the organizer's words:

Founded in 2008, Sattas is one of Turkey's most important and pioneering reggae groups. Since the release of their eponymous debut album in 2012, the band has gained international recognition with their unique blend of Turkish sounds and Jamaican sounds. Sattas has already performed at numerous renowned festivals such as the Montreal Jazz Festival, Rototom, Sziget, Abi Reggae Festival and the Ruhr Summerjam Reggae Festival. After their first album, they continued their musical career with EPs consisting of both their own compositions and cover versions.

In addition to reggae, Sattas also draws on genres such as rock, soul and funk. The band consists of six members: Orçun Sunear (vocals), Öykü Gülata (bass), Gonca F. Varol (keyboard), Mehmet Ali Özay (wind instruments), Cenk Güngör (drums) and Batu Kurnaz (guitar).

After the release of their self titled first album in 2012, they have performed in Internationally recognized festivals such as Montreal Jazz Festival, Rototom, Sziget, Abi Reggae Fest, Ruhr Summerjam Reggae Fest and many more. Combining reggae with traditional Turkish sounds and melodies, Sattas continues their music journey with EPs that consist of original songs and covers.
