In the organizer's words:

Two exhibitions with contemporary artistic positions expand the view of a relational understanding of kinship transculturally as part of Beziehungsweise Familie. The tour presents local and international artists who reflect on togetherness beyond blood relations or state-standardized family images.

While An das wir uns festhalten focuses on interpersonal relationships that arise from shared experiences of precarious life realities and everyday practices of solidarity, Sich verwandt machen is based on relational ontologies that include (material) entanglements between people, the land and other living beings.

With resilience, sensitivity and humor, the artists show in their works how diverse and also contradictory relationships are lived and recreated across generations and borders, beyond rigid and exclusionary family models.
