Get ready for an extraordinary journey that will immerse you in the wonders of the deep blue ocean. "Sounds of the Ocean" is an award-winning immersive experience: the experience combines sounds of whales and dolphins, live music, dance, immersive visual art and ocean imagery, inviting the audience on a mindful underwater odyssey to connect deeply with ocean life and themselves. Created by ocean activist and composer Joshua Sam Miller and director and dancer Elise Lein, "Sounds of the Ocean" uses music and dance to immerse the audience in a unique underwater world.
We are committed to presenting the beauty of the oceans as something precious that needs to be protected. We believe in the power of peaceful activism and want to inspire people to protect our ocean.
In a society burdened by stress, this transformative project offers reflection and respite, inviting you to find inner peace while developing a deeper appreciation for the natural world. "Sounds of the Ocean" also acts as an international platform that celebrates the fusion of art and conservation.
From the vibrant coasts of North and Central America to the mesmerizing landscapes of Europe and the Middle East, this immersive experience has already captivated audiences in eleven countries. It has graced the stages of prestigious international climate conferences, including the UN Ocean Conference in Lisbon, COP 26 and COP 27, and has left its undeniable mark on renowned music festivals such as Burning Man, Garbicz Festival and Boom Festival.
Sounds of the Ocean is an official activity of the UN Ocean Decade, presented by Embodied Sounds.
"Sounds of the Ocean" takes place as part of the "Invisible Worlds" theme days: From 16 to 18 April 2026, we will be focusing on the microscope, a groundbreaking invention that, like the telescope, has revolutionized our view of scientific contexts. With its help, we are focusing on microplastics as one of the most pressing issues of our time. What do we mean by this, where do we encounter it in the environment and in our bodies and what consequences does it have for our society? In workshops, fulldome programs, lectures and live performances, you will experience an exciting journey from the microcosm of life to the infinite vastness of the universe.
Please note: The program of the theme days is mainly held in German.
