Normally we see words in books and texts, with pictures we look at color, people or objects. In our exhibition, however, we are trying something new: we are looking at signs and symbols and reading pictures. Works of art can be "read" in order to discover the signs and symbols hidden within them.

Art can show us where people come from and how they are connected to each other. The artist Shirin Neshat asks exciting questions such as: Who are you? How did you get here? In her photographic works, she combines powerful images with emotive texts. But how do we actually understand images? Why can they tell so much, even without words?
