With openness, humor and courage, the play takes a look at body positivity and body images of people with disabilities. The play tells of desire, relationships and self-determination - and does not shy away from making prejudices, transgressions of boundaries and the right to closeness visible. The production by the ChiBäm theater group from bhz Stuttgart combines acted scenes and videos. Based on their own experiences, poems and specialist contributions, a touching and sometimes uncomfortable debate has been created that is intended to move people, invite them to reflect and break down entrenched thought patterns.
This season, the ChiBäm [tschibääm] theater group from bhz Stuttgart e.V., a diaconal institution for people with disabilities, is exploring topics such as love and sexuality - also against the backdrop of their own experiences. Themes such as body positivity, femininity, anger and body images from the perspective of people with disabilities are included.
People with disabilities are often denied from the outside that they have sexual needs or relationship desires. The artistic debate is therefore also about self-empowerment and identity.
How does anger feel when you are overlooked? What does body positivity mean from the perspective of people whose body images do not correspond to the social norm?
